TRANSPORT RE-ORGANIZATION EXERCISE:KMA writes to Transport Operators within CBD

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) has scheduled to meet all transport operators within the Central Business District(CBD) on Friday,18th August,2023 ahead of full enforcement of ongoing Transport Re-Organization exercise on Monday,21st August,2023.

The letter inviting the affected transport operators dated 16th August,2023 and signed by Francis Dwira Darko,Metro Co-Ordinating Director for the Metro Chief Executive was entitled “INVITATION TO MEETING ILLEGAL LOADING WITHIN SECTIONS OF THE CITY

The letter reads As part of efforts to ensure a reduction in congestion within the city center,the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) is embarking on Transport Re-Organization exercise in the City. We are by this letter,informing you that transport activities at following locations are deemed illegal by the Assembly.

  1. Pampaso(All long-distance routes)
  2. Central Market(All long-distance routes )
  3. Otumfuor roundabout (All vehicles found loading)
  4. MTN Mbrom (All unauthorized vehicles found loading )
  5. KATH Rounadbout(All long-distance routes)
  6. Behind Batamahene’s Palace(All long-distance routes)
  7. Zoo main entrance and walls(All unauthorized vehicles found loading)

To give a fair hearing to all Operators  at the locations stated above,a team has been set up to look into the issue. You are therefore invited to a meeting on Friday,18th August,2023 at 2:00pm at the KMA Conference Room. please come along with your Transport Operating permit for the listed locations to aid the discussions.

Please, note that strict enforcement at the listed locations will be applied from Monday,21st August,2023.

Again, note that per the Resolution of the General Assembly on Friday,28th July,2023,the following attached rates will apply for any vehicle that flouts the rule and is arrested.
