TUTUMAN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL UNVEILS TUTU METHODIST TECHNICAL INSTITUTE

 

 

The Tutuman Traditional Council and the Board of governors of Tutu Methodist Technical Institute in collaboration with Tutu Calvary Methodist Church over the weekend officially Unveiled Tutu Methodist Technical Institute as one of the Ghana TVET Services government institution.

Speaking at the unveilling ceremony, the Acting Principal of the institute, Mr. William Ofori Akwaboa in his welcome address expressed his gratitude to Nananom, the Tutu Calvary Methodist Church, The Director General of Ghana TVET Services and Natives of Tutu for their unwavering support to the Technical Institute in refurbished of the School building and a new two seater Biogas toilet facility constructed for the school.

He narrated that even though the school had enormous challenges some years back but through the help of Nananom, Calvary Methodist Church and some natives of Tutu, they have been able to addressed most of it.

He emphasized that Tutu Methodist Technical Institute will continue to train many students by making them employed graduates after school but not unemployed academic graduates.

He urged parents to encourage their ward’s to choose Technical Institutes after their Junior High School since TVET has come to stay and bemoans students who acquires knowledge through technical schools enter into university to upgrade their well reahearsed trades and become masters of themselves and employ others, than those academic graduates who becomes a burden to the nation after university.

The Ag. Deputy Director Human Resource, Mr. Isaac Incoom, in his part read on behalf of the Director General for Ghana TVET Service, Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity, and used the occasion to thanked the overlord of Tutu – Akuapem, Nana Appiah Anti IV and the board of Governors for their immense support to the development of Tutu Methodist Technical Institute.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North Municipality, Honorable Nana Barima Awuah Asiedu Larbi, in a statement dismissed the notion that TVET is for school dropouts.

He opined, skills acquisition is imperative as it guarantee employable skills and decent livelihood. He encouraged all parents to send their wards to TVET Institutions to acquire 21st century employable skills to minimize unemployment rate in the in Ghana in order for everyone to contributes his/her quota for the growth of our beloved country Ghana..

Nana Appiah Anti IV, the overlord of Tutu – Akuapem thanked the Calvary Methodist Church, Tutu Akuapem for their immense contribution to the Institute since it emerged with Nananom one year ago, to co-manage the school. He appealed to the Principal and the Board of the Institute, to expedite action on the accreditation process for eight programs to commence.

Nana Dr. Ani Agyei III, a member of the board of Tutu Methodist Technical Institute, appealed to indigenes of Tutu to encourage their wards to enroll in the Institute because TVET training as this is one of the best ways education will enhance their entrepreneurial skills and future livelihood empowerment.story by:Kofi Ofori, Eastern Region
