The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Tain Constituency in the Bono Region, Mr. Alexander Ababio, has said the party needs a united front to secure victory in the 2024 general election in order to continue its good works.
Calling all hands on deck, he said, “I’m urging all unsuccessful parliamentary candidate hopefuls and their supporters as well as all winners to team up and put behind them the outcome of the primaries. Our ultimate goal is to break the 8 in the 2024 elections; let’s all come together to work hard in order to break the 8.”
In an interview with “The New Trust” newspaper, Mr. Ababio stressed that his party members needed a unified team to make it easy for them to break the 8.
He, therefore, assured the constituents of massive developmental projects in the constituency if he is given the opportunity to represent them in Parliament next year.
He said it had always been his desire to represent the people of Tain in Parliament to accelerate the development of the area and turn the economic conditions around for the better.
He indicated that he would involve his competitors in the party’s primaries in his campaign. “I am so glad I have been elected to lead NPP in the Tain Constituency as the parliamentary candidate. I started envisaging this opportunity when I was 24 years old and I believe this is the right time for me; I am glad,” he added.
Mr. Alexander Ababio, who is also the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Bofoakwa Tano Football Club, won the primaries with 455 votes to triumph over Akua Foriwaa Dwomo, the former District Chief Executive (DCE) who had 87 votes, and the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Gabriel Osei, who garnered 152 votes.

The other three contestants – Clifford Nana Kyere, Patrick Asante and Afful Manu Benjamin – had 39, 35 and 18 votes respectively.
Mr. Ababio, who is confident to win the seat, said he would champion for unity, especially among the rank and file of NPP, in order to win the seat.
He expressed his gratitude to all delegates and party faithful for the honour of electing him as their candidate. He appealed to all constituents to vote massively for him and NPP in the next elections in order to help build a better Tain for the constituents.
Some of the constituents who spoke to this paper were optimistic that the election of Alexander Ababio as NPP PC was a step in the right direction. To them, if he wins the seat and becomes the next MP, it will go a long way to fast-track progress and development in the area.
“Even now that he is not an MP or holds any government appointment, he has done a lot and continues to do more for the people of Tain, and it is our prayer that he becomes our next MP after the 2024 general election, so that he can do more for us,” they noted.
