John Boadu, a former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and current Director-General for the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), has expressed confidence in his party emerging victor in the upcoming December elections.
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 to elect the next President and parliamentary representatives.
About 18 million electorates are expected to participate in the elections.
Prior to the election day, some surveys have cropped up projecting who is going to win the elections.
Between the two main contenders, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama, flagbearers of the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress, respectively, the surveys show porous results, with some ticking John Mahama to win and others pegging Bawumia as the winner.
The latest survey conducted by Prof. Smart Sarpong, a senior researcher at Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, leads John Mahama with 49.1%, with the latter polling 45.8%.
Assessing the surveys and the intensive campaign strategy by his presidential candidate, John Boadu predicted a one-touch victory for Dr. Bawumia; however, he encouraged the supporters and members of the New Patriotic Party to turn up in their numbers to make this possible for the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show, John Boadu stressed, “We are winning these elections. We are winning because of the things we have done within 8 years.”
