Why Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh is the Surest & most strategic choice for the NPP

Among the various potential candidates vying for the leadership of our great party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), many possess commendable traits worthy of a presidential contender. However, I wish to narrow my comparison to three notable aspirants in relation to Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh, whom I firmly believe stands as the most unifying and electable figure for the party heading into the 2028 elections.

Let me begin with His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former flagbearer and Vice President of the Republic.

Francis Addai Nimoh

Undoubtedly, Dr. Bawumia is a fine gentleman with an impressive academic background and solid economic credentials. He commands a level of popularity and has served diligently as the second-in-command of the former administration.

However, we must be politically realistic. His close association with President Nana Akufo-Addo ties him directly to the economic challenges and widespread hardships Ghanaians have endured over the past years. This linkage weakens his public appeal, as many citizens see him as co-architect of their suffering. Additionally, the lack of overwhelming support from his own northern base and sections of the Muslim community during the last electoral cycle signals a waning grassroots endorsement. Repeating his candidacy could be politically suicidal for our party.

Next in line is Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, an outspoken, wealthy, and fearless politician. He is undeniably a man of influence and charisma, capable of commanding attention across the nation. However, his Achilles’ heel lies in his unrestrained public utterances, which have, over the years, alienated key stakeholders both within and outside the NPP. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is waiting in anticipation to exploit his controversial audio and video records, which could be weaponized against us in the heat of the campaign. His candidacy presents a high-risk gamble for the NPP’s electoral prospects.

The third contender worth mentioning is Hon. Bryan Acheampong, a respected businessman and former Minister of State for National Security. A man of wealth and discipline, Bryan’s service in the security sector was notable. However, his tenure has been tainted by lingering allegations from the opposition, including accusations surrounding the military presence in Parliament and the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election disturbances. While these claims remain unproven, the political baggage they bring cannot be ignored. At this critical juncture, we must avoid any candidate with perceived dents on their public image, as the 2028 battle demands a candidate who is above reproach.

This brings me to the only man who stands unblemished—Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh. Like a political “Messiah,” his character reflects that of a true servant leader. His humble beginnings, unyielding perseverance, calm temperament, and unwavering dedication to the NPP make him the embodiment of integrity and consistency. Despite facing years of neglect and rejection, he has never turned his back on the party. Instead, he continues to rise with humility, ready to redeem and reposition the NPP for victory.

Hon. Addai-Nimoh represents the fresh, incorruptible, and unifying face the NPP needs—a man untouched by scandal, a man respected across the political divide, and a man whose calm leadership can restore public trust in our party. He is the redeemer the NPP desperately needs in these trying times.

Dear Delegates, many will come with grand promises and fat envelopes. But remember: it is not about today—it is about the future. Choose the path of hope. Choose a leader who embodies discipline, humility, and sincerity. Choose Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh—the true vessel for NPP’s renewal and Ghana’s future transformation.
