The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has questioned former President John Mahama’s decision to stage a comeback to the corridors of power.

The regional chairman does not understand why the former president is portraying himself as someone who has never had the chance to manage the affairs of the country.

Chairman Wontumi

He said inasmuch as the former president tries to rebrand himself as a messiah, Ghanaians still recall the four years of pain, hopelessness and despair they suffered under his administration.

Speaking at Duapa FM at Konongo in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, 21st August 2024, Chairman Wontumi was quite surprised as to why despite his abysmal performance in government, Mr. Mahama still wanted to reclaim political power.

“Perhaps, he wants to come so he could continue with the create, loot and share agenda with his cronies,” he pointed out.

“What does Mahama want from Ghanaians? What didn’t he do that he wants another opportunity from the good people of Ghana?” he asked rethorically.

He added, “You had the chance to change the fortunes of the people of this country, but you messed up the country, dashing all our hopes. Are you seeking to return to power so you can redeem your lost glory or what?”

Chairman Wontumi sold the policies of his party’s flagbearer to the masses.

He took time and explained the recently launched NPP manifesto to the people, adding that it contains well-thought-through policies which would move the country forward.

He reiterated the numerous developmental projects of the government and how the Free SHS policy had benefitted several Ghanaians.
