A short ceremony has been held for the commencement of work at Suame-Kropo ultra-modern market complex within the Suame Municipality of Ashanti region.
The project which is estimated to cost about Ten Million Ghana cedis (Ghc 10M) is funded by the World Bank under Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP).

The ultra-modern market Complex which has been awarded to Great Nabil Limited (Lot 1) and Elifert Limited (Lot 2) is expected to be completed in Eleven (11)calendar months.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suame ,Hon.Maxwell Ofosu Boakye gave a brief description or scope of works of the project to The New Trust Newspaper after a kick-off meeting for Kropo Market on Wednesday, 7th September, 2022.
According to him, LOT 1 of the project include; demolition of the old structures, construction of Police post/first Aid block, construction of 2-Storey 48-Units lockable stores and external works.
And that LOT 2 of project also include; demolition, construction of 2-Storey 8-units lockable stores and Washrooms,4-units (40 no.Stalls) as well as 1-unit (20 no.stalls)-1-unit(5no.stalls) and external works respectively.

The MCE said the consultant for the project is Associated Beavers Consult, client’s representative -Suame Municipal Engineer and the project will be monitored by Municipal monitoring team with the full support of Works sub-committee of Suame Municipal Assembly.
Hon.Maxwell Ofosu Boakye urged the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Great Nabil Limited, Alhaji Aliu Salis who was personally present with his team and Elifert Limited contractors to bring their time tested quality works to bear to complete the project on scheduled.
He assured the contractors of the full support of the Assembly and all stakeholders.
Mr.Alfred Ninsing ,one of the members of the Associated Beavers Consult (Consultant for the project) also stressed on the need for the contractors to work hard to meet the contract duration of eleven (11) calendar months to enable them avoid incurring extra cost of building materials.
He stated emphatically that World Bank will not bear any extra cost should they fail to meet the completion date and incurs extra cost.
He therefore appeals to the various contractors to do quality work and complete the project as scheduled.
Already, temporary structures have been put up for traders of the market and almost all the traders have vacated the old shops to pave way for construction of ultra -modern market complex for them.

The Consultant, Suame Municipal Assembly and the contractors say their doors are opened to address any further concerns. Even though, they will continue to engage traders and other stakeholders to ensure smooth completion of the project.
