A/R: Garages Association secures 37 hectares of land for local manufacturing of vehicle bumpers

The President of Ghana
Ghana National Association of Garages Odeneho Nana Oppong has revealed that, the association has secured 37 hectares of land at Afari enclave as new garages site for manufacturing of vehicle bumpers , vehicle lights and other parts to facilitate their operations.

The association in support with the government will build assembly plants for vehicles manufacturing, producing of spare parts among others to assist transport service in the country.

The National President said the garages association will start the building of the structures on their new site from January next year and it will employ more than 3,000 artisans to enhance employment creation.

Odeneho Nana Oppong made this known when the Ashanti Regional chapter of National Garages association held an election to select new leaders to steer the affairs of the association in the region .

The National President noted that, electricity and water will be supplied to the new site to help the artisans who will be using the site to improve their working conditions.

Added that, artisans who are dispersed from Suame magazine and do not have permanent place to work are the first target to be moved to the site.

The newly elected Chairman, Mr. Luqman Mohammed Nuhu Appiadu who went unopposed because of his humility and tremendous roles in the welfare of the association on his part, commended the members for the confidence reposed in the new Executives.
He assured the members that they will work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Mr.Appiadu stressed on the need for unity among the rank and file of Garages members to enable them achieve their set goals.

“Let’s all work together  as an Association to help uplift the image of Garages for the betterment of all.Our doors are always opened for any useful suggestions”,he added.

The Ghana National Association of Garages, Ashanti Chapter elected new executives to spearhead the affairs of association successfully.

In all, seven (7) members filed their nomination as at the closing date to contest for the positions.
However,Alhaji Luqman Mohamed Nuhu Appiadu,a former vice chairman of the association went unopposed for the Chairmanship position.

The vice chairman position was contested by two persons and Mr. Collins Owusu Ansah lost it to Mr. Charles Yamoah Boateng with 74 votes as against 90 votes respectively.

The total votes casted were 166 and out of 200 delegates.

For the Treasurer position; Hon. B.B. Bassit and Mr. Solomon Sarbin Baidoo contested and Hon.B.B. Bassit emerged winner at the end of the election with 115 votes out of 166 votes as against his contender who obtained 50 votes.

The organizer position was won by Mr. Kwame Amoah with 123 votes as against Mr. John Dardzie who had 42 votes out of the total votes of 166.

The new Regional Executives inline with the constitution of the Association is expected to appoint Secretary, Administrator among others to support their work.
