ACCRA HIGH COURT FINES DEFENDANTS GH¢5,000 IN A DEFAMATION SUIT INITIATED BY PROF. PETER TWUMASI

By:A News Desk Report

On Tuesday, 14th November 2023 at the Accra High Court, the trial judge awarded a cost of GH¢5,000 against some defendants for failing to file their defence since April this year after many cautions by the judge with lower fines in a defamation suit filed by Prof. Peter Twumasi, Director General of the National Sports Authority, last year.

Pleading with the judge to reduce the cost of GH¢15,000 earlier demanded by the plaintiff’s lawyer, the lawyer for the defendants indicated that he represented only Kwame Baa Mensa since he could not locate the other defendant, Edmund Appiah.

He informed Her Ladyship, the Judge, that they filed their defence only a day before the sitting. However, both Kwame Baa Mensa and Edmund Appiah did not show up in court.

The case was then adjourned.
