The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr.Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah has called for a immediate and impartial financial audit of all funds spent during the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa (SA).
According to him, the Minority Caucus will continue to exercise their oversight responsibility until every cedi is accounted for and the Ghanaian people receive the answers they deserve.
Mr.Dapaah, who’s popularly known in the political space as “Okumkom ” call, was contained in his Facebook post on Tuesday, 20th October, 2026.

The full statement by Mr. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah is reproduced below:
My stance on the South Africa evacuation scandal remains firm and unyielding. Public money cannot be accounted for through mere words or verbal assurances; true fiscal accountability is achieved through verified, audited documentation presented before Parliament and subjected to independent professional scrutiny. Claiming an emergency situation does not grant anyone a license to bypass transparency or evade accountability.
The Ghanaian people are demanding a full accounting of public funds, and until that comprehensive account is produced, this matter will not be closed.
Critical Discrepancies Requiring Immediate Clarification & Independent Audit:
Unaccounted Funds: Out of the GH¢16.4 million allocated for airline tickets, a staggering GH¢6.6 million remains completely unaccounted for. Furthermore, more than half of the total expenditure reported lacks supporting invoices.

Inflated Charter Costs: Industry benchmarks indicate that the maximum cost for a chartered flight ranges between $180,000 and $300,000. However, figures cited by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa claim the chartered flight cost $750,000 a massive markup that requires urgent justification.
Headcount and Signature Mismatches: None of the financial and logistical documents submitted by Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa account for the claimed 1,964 evacuees. Worse still, official checks indicate that the signatures on record do not match the headcount.
Unanswered Personal Allegations: Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa must do the honorable thing and publicly clarify the serious allegations regarding $10,000 allegedly pocketed by his bodyguard.
Our Demands:
Charter Flight Transparency: We demand that the Minister for Foreign Affairs disclose the identity of the charter operator, explain the procurement and selection process, and justify why this specific operator was chosen.
Accountability for E&P Donation: The Minister must provide a full breakdown of the GH¢16 million donated by Engineers & Planners (E&P) clarifying whether this amount was received in cash or paid directly to third parties on behalf of the Ministry.
Independent Audit: An immediate, impartial financial audit of all funds spent during the evacuation exercise.
We will continue to exercise our oversight responsibility until every cedi is accounted for and the Ghanaian people receive the answers they deserve.##ForGodAndCountr.Source:tntnewspaprgh.com
