Delegates of the Akropong Constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have finally pulled down all obstacles to elected their constituency executives on Wednesday, June 15, in a peaceful, orderly and transparent manner.

The elections were conducted transparently by the Electoral Commission at the Amanokrom Community Center in the Akuapem North Municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North and Deputy Minister of Trade could not partake the elections for a reason known by herself, the MCE of Akuapem North, Barima Asiedu Larbi together with the council of Elders and leading members of the party in the constituency as well as the interim executive played a key role to ensure a successful process in the elections.

The election which was organized after several attempts to deprive delegates came to an end at Koforidua High Court (room 3) on Tuesday, June 14 2022, the representative for NPP National level who supervised this election was satisfied with the entire process.

In an interview with Regional Secretary of the Party, he narrated, “I am happy with how the process has gone so far in a very peaceful manner, it shows how united the party is in the Akuapem North constituency. It shows clearly that we are ready for the 2024 elections and ‘breaking the 8’ will surely materialize”.

He however charged the new executive to do as much as possible to bring on board all the defeated candidates to ensure the unity of the party in Akuapem North.

After the elections, the interim chairman, Adu Gartey lamented, at long last, the battle of Akropong Constituency has ended peacefully and ” I thank all delegates for the comportment, and the zeal to help maintain peace has materialized.

He used the opportunity to thank the rank and file of the party in the constituency.

The newly elected chairman, Omane Mensah Bonsu admonished, “thank you for the trust you have imposed in me to be the Chairman for the next four years.

Even though it is a challenge on all of us to work to break the 8, which is our target, but it is not beyond our capabilities, adding that we also have to increase our votes from the 2020 Elections to about 75%, in the 2024 elections, we cannot do it alone and I need all of you to break the 8.

I can’t do it alone, I need the support of all of you to make it happen, he emphasized”.
