The residents of Ashanti region especially Bantama youth have expressed their total disappointment in the ruling NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for denying the region with its fair share of the national cake after majority of the people in the region voted massively for them  in both 2016 and 2020 general elections.

They mentioned the abandoned of Boankra Inland Port which was started by former President J.A.Kufour’s administration and re-launched by Nana Akufo-Addo before 2020 polls, failure of the government to honor its promised of constructing five (5) interchanges in the greater Kumasi Metropolitan area including;Suame,Anloga,Santasi ,Airport etc.

Mr.Kwame Awuah Nimfour, the spokesperson for Bantama youth at a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, 22nd June, 2022 lamented that “as we speak now the Sofo-Line interchange which was started by former President Kufour’s era has still not been completed, Afari Military hospital also started by former President Kufour is yet to be completed among other projects.

The spokesperson said they have now realized why after electorates in the region even though, voted massively for NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo in both 2016 and 2020, yet the government has decided not to bring the needed development in Asanteman. The youth attributed the lack of development in the region to counseling President Akufo-Addo has been receiving from his Senior Presidential Advisor,Yaw Osafo Marfo as well as the failure of MPs in Ashanti region to lobby for Asanteman fair share of development.

”If you go to EASTERN REGION now developmental projects are going on unabated but same can’t be said about Ashanti region all because you have people like Osafo Marfo as Senior Presidential Advisor counseling Nana Addo against development of Asanteman.

We’re given all the  47 MPs in the region two weeks to come out and tells us the developmental projects they have so far lobby for the region since Nana Addo assumed power and why they shouldn’t be voted out come 2024 polls.

According to the angry youth,after the two weeks” if we don’t hear from the MPs or their explanation is not convincing we shall officially petition Asantehene,Otumfuo Osei Tutu II against the MPs and to allow each of the 47 constituencies  to select committed and dedicated Asante youth as Parliamentary candidates for the 47 seats in the region without any political party colours. And when that is done no political party representative will be allowed to campaign in any part of the region because they don’t think about the development of Asanteman.

The Bantama youth is also demanding an unqualified apology from Yaw Osafo Marfo after his detestable comment against Asanteman.Story by TNTNEWSPAPERGH.COM
