The Ashanti Regional Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, who is popularly known as Francois, has described the nomination of metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs), especially in the Ashanti Region, as very disappointing.
“The appointment of MMDCEs in the Ashanti Region is very disappointing. It appears most lucrative appointments from the top to the bottom are being given to non-Akans,” he pointed out.
Dr Francis Adomako aka Francois
Francois, who doubles as the Dean of all Regional Organisers, in an interview with “The New Trust” newspaper on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, said “when appointments started, I studied the trend, especially board members of Ghana Water. They were all non-Akans. Did only non-Akans work hard for the NDC to come to power? Just yesterday, the MMDCEs list for the Ashanti Region shows clearly that about 17 of the names are non-Akans. So are all executives in those constituencies non-Akans?”
According to him, there is no way an Akan, who has worked so hard for the NDC but resides in a region outside the Ashanti Region, would be selected as a DCE in that district. But when it comes to the Ashanti Region, as many as 17 people are all non-Akans.
He, therefore, attached the list of nominees below to buttress his concerns:
Ahafo Ano South East – Ibrahim Yamba Nelson Issaka
Ahafo Ano South West – Abubakar Sedik
Atwima Nwabiagya North – MBA Zechariah Allenbila
Bekwai – Salifi Issaka
