Asantehene highlights progress in Bawku peace talks

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has shared that recent peace efforts in the Bawku conflict have resulted in a period of relative calm in the region.As the lead mediator in the dialogue between the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities, Otumfuo held a series of meetings with representatives from both groups between April 28 and April 30. These talks have since been paused temporarily

During a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, May 12, 2025, the Asantehene expressed optimism that the talks would resume soon.
“We are still working on the issue, and we will reconvene to continue the discussions. Though we are not finished, the progress made so far has brought some peace to the area. We will update you and the nation shortly,” he remarked.
