Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, commended the leading telecommunications company in the country, MTN Ghana, for its unwavering support of the Ashantifest festival.
The telecommunications giant, which was involved in the maiden event last year,has fully committed itself to support the Regional Minister for the successful festival and also committed its readiness to partner
the Minister and Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) in any new initiatives towards the promotion of cultural heritage and tourism.



The Minister made the commendation during the official launch of the 2026 Ashantifest at Kaasi branch of MTN Ghana in Kumasi on Wednesday,18th March,2026.
The 2026 event is expected to run throughout the month of March with key events, include;sporting activities tapestry,art, and music, all gear towards promotion of tourism and cultural heritage.

Dr.Amoakohene described the partnership with MTN Ghana as instrumental in celebrating culture and empowering communities across the region.
According to him, the festival is more than a celebration.” It is a platform that brings our communities together and strengthens our cultural identity. MTN Ghana’s support has been key to making this possible,” he admitted.

” I wish to also commend the festival team and MTN Ghana for their dedication in organizing and executing the event.As we modernize, it is vital that our culture and heritage are preserved, and MTN Ghana has been a reliable partner in this journey,” he added.
On his part, Mr. Simon Amoh,the Senior Manager General services for Northern Sector, urged the residents in the Ashanti Region,especially those in Kumasi, to embrace and patronise the events ,
Mr.Amoh reaffirmed MTN Ghana commitment to national heritage and community development by announcing its headline sponsorship of the 2026 Ashanti Festival.
He said MTN Ghana has collaborated closely with Dr. Frank Amoakohene on his vision for the Ashantifest Festival. “Today, we are proud to officially launch the 2026 edition, fully integrated as a lead partner, and our support extends across the festival’s diverse pillars, focusing on accessibility and community spirit” Mr.Amoh explained.
Mr. Simon Amoh also revealed that they will fully fund the festival’s flagship musical event in Kumasi, covering all ticketing costs to ensure the public can attend free of charge.
For the record,MTN Ghana is the sole sponsor of the Ashanfest football gala, taking care of the venue, branding and jerseys ,trophies, player refreshments among others.Adding that MTN Ghana remains open to further collaboration because culture is the primary vehicle through which community values and communication are preserved across generations.
“Culture is central to our operations. As an African company, we identify deeply with Ghana’s heritage. It is through these traditions that we transmit values from one generation to the next,” he explained.
