The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) wishes to set the record straight regarding the provision of standardized containers for traders affected by the removal of unauthorized structures around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Mayor of Kumasi did not award any contract to a personal associate and has no financial interest in the production or supply of the containers.

Affected traders were asked to engage a qualified contractor to produce containers that meet the approved standards. When concerns were raised about the cost, the Mayor intervened to help secure a bulk discount, making the containers more affordable for traders.

This intervention was solely to support traders while ensuring order, safety, and proper planning around the stadium.
KMA remains committed to transparency, orderly development, and building a better Kumasi for all.
