The statement said the Conference of Presiding Members Ashanti condemns the unacceptable acts by 1. some unidentified thugs who were allegedly invited by some top officials in the Adansi Asokwa District. According to the statement, out of fear and panic, and to prevent future occurrences, the meeting had to be postponed.

  1. A similar incident happened on Thursday, 7th May, 2026, at Ejisu Municipal Assembly during their assembly meeting. “A number of men in uniform claiming to be national security officers just walked in and decided to join their meeting, trying to scan and search every individual Assembly member, which raised some concerns from the members. Out of frustrations, the assembly meeting could not be held.

The conference of Ashanti Regional Presiding Members strongly condemns the recent actions of these groups and the individuals behind their actions. Their conduct has caused distress within these assemblies and beyond and also represents a serious violation of our shared values of respect, responsibility, and lawful behaviour. Such actions are unacceptable and do not reflect the principles we stand for as a society.

The statement continued, “We call on all appropriate authorities to investigate into the matter. It is important that due process be followed to ensure justice.

The Ashanti Regional conference of presiding members remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect among all people. We therefore urge individuals and groups to channel their concerns through constructive and lawful means rather than resorting to actions that may harm others or disrupt public order.

We also encourage anyone with relevant information regarding these incidents to report to the appropriate authorities to assist in the investigations. We reaffirm our dedication to safeguarding the well-being of our assembly members and will continue to work closely with stakeholders to prevent such occurrences in the future,” the statement added.

Signed: Hon. Patrick Kwame FrimpongDean of presiding members, Ashanti.
