The Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore MP and Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee, Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, has successfully secured police enquiry bail for NPP activist Efya Royal, who was arrested by the Police on suspicion of sharing a post made by popular TikToker Ghana Jollof.
Efya Royal’s whereabouts had been unknown over the weekend after she was mysteriously taken, sparking widespread concern until the development went viral on social media, forcing the Police to confirm her arrest.

The circumstances of her detention have been condemned in several quarters as an abuse of human rights, with many describing it as part of a pattern that has become rampant under the current administration.
Dr. Ayew Afriye’s swift intervention has drawn praise from many who point to his unrelenting support for the youth of the NPP.
Efya Royal has since been granted police enquiry bail in the sum of GH₵20,000.
Sources say both Dr. Ayew and the party’s Director of Legal Services, Mr. Gary Nimako, spent severals hours, running deep into the night on Monday at the Cantonments Police Station to secure bail for the NPP women activist.

The MP’s intervention is, however, not surprising to many party supporters, who view him as a true patriot committed to the welfare of all party members.
