Easter celebration: Napo donates to Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, Kumasi Cheshire Home & Kumasi Children’s Home

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the 2024 running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has made a timely donation to the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, Kumasi Cheshire Home, and Kumasi Children’s Home, all in the Ashanti Region, to fulfil his quarterly donations to the homes.

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, popularly known as Napo in the political space, made separate donations on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026.The items shared among the three beneficiary institutions included 12 bags of rice, 9 cartons of cooking oil, 3 bags of sugar, and 3 bags of gari.

The rest are 3 bags of beans, 9 boxes of Geisha, 12 boxes of tin tomatoes, as well as three (3) bags of maize.As usual, the leadership of both Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home revealed that for the past 20 years, Napo had been supporting them three times every year.The representative of Mrs Rita Adjei, the manageress of the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, who received the items on behalf of the institution, couldn’t hide her joy.

 

 

At Kumasi Children’s Home

John Alhassan, on behalf of the teachers and his fellow inmates, led a powerful prayer for Napo and his family members who accompanied him.The testimonies about Napo’s kind support and consistent donations to the Kumasi Cheshire, which is very close to the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, were not different.

The home, which is also a non-profit organisation, takes care of adult persons with mental health problems.

At Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre

The public health officer, Mrs.Harriet Osei-Owusu also reiterated that Napo had been doing that three times every year for the past 20 years.”All we can say is thank you (Napo), and may God continue to bless you and your family to enable you to continue to support the needy,” she added.

She therefore cautioned against discrimination and neglect of mental-ill patients by parents, family members, and society. According to her, many factors, such as family issues, relationships, and typhoid fever, among others, can bring about mental illnesses. “. Please don’t.Discriminate against any mentally ill patients,” he pleaded.

At  Kumasi Cheshire Home

On her part, Manageress/Administrator of the Kumasi Children’s Home, Madam Mabel Pinamang Boamah, also expressed her profound gratitude to Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh for his continuous support.The former energy and education minister, who is known for his humanitarian support, said, “I always pray to God to continue to bless me to enable me to support others, especially the needy in society.”

According to him, he first visited the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre about 20 years ago during his medical school days, and since then, he has been supporting the institution in various ways.Napo took time to interact with both staff and students of the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Children’s Home, as well as the inmates at the Kumasi Cheshire Home.

He also commended the staff of the various institutions for their dedication and commitment to service.

Napo, therefore, encouraged all Ghanaians and institutions to always support the teachers of the various homes and also contribute their mite to the orphan homes.

According to him, supporting the needy in society should be the solemn responsibility of every citizen.

He assured the institutions that he’ll continue to make his quarterly donation to support him, and all he requires of them is their prayers.
