Ejisu NPP crisis: CONDUCT FRESH ELECTIONS TO SAVE THE SEAT-NPP guru advices leadership

By:A political desk report

The leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Mr.Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has been advised to act urgently to resolve the internal crisis in the Ejisu constituency to help save the seat Come 2024 general elections.

Mr.Ntim Twumasi Kwaku, the immediate past 2nd vice chairman for Ejisu NPP who doubles as a member of the Ashanti communication team of the party, says the only and easy way to resolve the crisis is for the leadership of the party to conduct fresh elections from the polling stations level through to the constituency level.

According to him,for the party to be able to retain the seat with a united front in line with their determination to break the 8,the calls by many is that the leadership should  urgently conduct fresh elections from  the polling stations  and ensure free, air and transparency  polls.

Speaking on Wontumi TV/Radio on Tuesday’s afternoon political show program hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu, the NPP guru who is affectionately called NTK said to break the 8,NPP needs more than Two million votes in Ashanti region

.And “I’m saying that every single vote counts and we(NPP) cannot afford to lose Ejisu seat and 2024 polls because of individual or group interest “.

NTK who is also a former British Military Officer calls follows a threat by over 2000 aggrieved NPP polling station applicants to sponsor independent candidate to contest the sitting MP,Hon.John Kumah or whoever will be elected as the Party’s Parliamentary candidate for 2024 polls if the leadership of the party fails to resolve their petition over the recently held polling station and constituency elections.

The Chief Executive officer (CEO) of NTK Ventures who is one of the key sponsors of the party in Ejisu and TESCON activities lamented that if nothing is done immediately to address or resolve Ejisu crisis, he is afraid the aggrieved members will carry out their threat and it would not be favorable for NPP.
“I  always say that politics is not dirty as some people say but it is our actions and in actions that makes it dirty”.

He said after the purported elections the aggrieved members held press conference, demonstrations and officially petitioned the leadership of the party both regional and national.

When nothing was done about the petition an injunction was sought to restrained the party from further process but the party ignored the court’s order and still went ahead to conduct Constituency elections.

Even though, the party leadership didn’t allowed delegates from Mampong,Fomena,Obuasi West to vote because of similar Courts injunctions yet,in the case of Ejisu they permitted the so called elected delegates to vote in both regional and National congresses.

This,he noted was a clear inconsistent to the rules and regulations governing the conduct of their elections. NTK insisted that the appointment of Mr.Paul Yandoh as election Committee chairman for Ejisu was a big mistake.

He said everybody knows that Mr.Yandoh was a close ally or associate of the sitting MP and was party of his campaign team in the run up to 2020 general elections. He said the party should put the blame on Mr.Paul Yandoh and a section of Election Committee members should the aggrieved party members sponsor independent candidate in 2024.

According to him,Mr.Yandoh ignored advised he and others offered him to ensure free, fair and transparent process and want ahead to supervise selection of favorites of the sitting MP in early dawn and night polls.
He said videos and photo evidence indicates that in some areas those selected were not even available in Ejisu ,yet they were made polling station officers.

He said what was done was a clear declaration of favorites as polling station officers instead of proper elections.

I’m therefore appealing to the leadership of the party to listen to the aggrieved members and resolve the crisis immediately.

We want to avoid independent candidate in Ejisu constituency in 2024 so the leadership should quickly conduct fresh elections and ensure free and fair elections.
