The Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has called for concerted efforts to protect street children and provide them with access to quality education, healthcare, adequate food, and a dignified life
He said addressing the challenges confronting vulnerable children required the commitment of traditional authorities, government, private individuals, and other stakeholders to provide the necessary support and show them love and compassion.
As part of efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable children, the renowned traditional ruler, known for his developmental and philanthropic initiatives, has announced plans to construct an ultra-modern orphanage home at Ejura

Their home will accommodate and educate street children from the area and its surrounding communities.

The Ejurahene made the announcement during the climax of the 2026 Ejura Sekyerene (Yam) Festival, held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, where thousands of people gathered to celebrate Asante culture and tradition.
According to Barimah Osei Hwedie II, the proposed facility will cater to abandoned children, orphans, and destitute children who require shelter, education, and other essential social services to improve their lives.

He explained that the children would benefit from quality education, vocational training, and healthcare services provided by qualified professionals, giving them opportunities to develop their potential and become responsible members of society.
“It will take those in power and all well-meaning individuals to support and uplift these children. We must show them love and provide them with the opportunities they need to live dignified lives,” the Ejurahene said, highlighting the need for collective responsibility in protecting vulnerable children.

The traditional ruler disclosed that he had already released land for the project and appealed to government institutions, corporate organisations, philanthropists, civil society groups and individuals to support the construction and ensure the facility is completed as soon as possible.
He further encouraged individuals and organisations interested in supporting the initiative to visit the Ejura Palace for further information on the project and possible avenues for collaboration.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II expressed his determination to work towards completing the facility before the next edition of the Ejura Yam Festival, stressing the importance of providing vulnerable children with a safe environment where they can access education, healthcare and the care they deserve.
The proposed orphanage home is expected to contribute to efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable children in Ejura and its environs.
