The Forestry Commission Training Centre (FCTC) has successfully completed an intensive five-day training on GIS for Forest Monitoring, Mapping and Resource Management (Module 1), equipping 15 participants with practical Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills for natural resource management.
The training brought together participants from diverse institutions, including TA Commodity Producers Co. Nigeria Ltd, Forestry Commission Edo State (Nigeria), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), the Wildlife Division, the Forestry Services Division, as well as recent university graduates.

Throughout the course, participants gained hands-on experience in GIS applications for forest resource management, spatial data collection and visualization, mobile data collection using GPS and GField, map production, and basic spatial analysis to support effective decision-making in environmental and natural resource management.
