The Ashanti Regional Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, has taken a strong exception to the directive by the Mahama administration to revoke the appointments of all Ghanaians who got employment from 7th December 2024.
He said instead of the Mahama administration to find more proactive means of creating more employment to reduce the already high unemployment rate in the country, he had rather decided to adopt a lazy approach to sack every qualified Ghanaian youth given employment under the previous Akufo-Addo administration.
This comment by Dr. Adomako, popularly known as Francois, follows the directive by Mr. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, to annul all public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024.
According to him, the directive is going to create further hardship and total disappointment to the Ghanaian youth since the then candidate Mr. Mahama campaigned on creating employment through a 24-hour economy.

“Someone who promised to implement a 24-hour economy to create employment is rather sacking Ghanaians who have been given employment. Are they not equally Ghanaians? What will happen to them now that government has issued a directive to revoke their appointments?” he asked rhetorically.
The Ashanti Regional Organiser, who doubles as the Dean of all Regional Organisers, is, therefore, calling on all stakeholders to condemn the action and demand immediate withdrawal of the directive.
It is noteworthy that the Chief of Staff has directed the annulment of all public sector appointments and recruitment made after December 7, 2024, citing non-compliance with good governance practices and principles.
In a letter addressed to all heads of government institutions and cited by “Joy News”, the Chief of Staff noted that such last-minute appointments were inconsistent with the government’s stated position on end-of-tenure recruitment.
“Consistent with government pronouncements in relation to near end-of-tenure appointments and recruitment, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitment made in the Public Services of Ghana, after 7th December 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” portions of the letter stated.
Heads of government institutions have been instructed to take immediate steps to annul these appointments and submit a comprehensive report on actions taken to the Office of the Chief of Staff by February 17, 2025.
“Your co-operation in this matter is highly appreciated,” the letter added.
