A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Ahafo Ano North constituency in the Ashanti region, Mr Fosu Frimpong, has rubbished accusations against him by some constituency executives for allegedly hiring machomen to cause the recent violent disturbance during the party’s polling station elections at Akwasiase.
In a statement dated Thursday, 14th May, 2026, Mr Frimong said, ‘I wish to state clearly and categorically that neither I nor any member of my team sponsored, invited, financed, organised, or deployed thugs or macho men to disrupt the elections anywhere in the constituency.’

Those allegations are false, reckless, and intended to damage our reputation and mislead party members. I also reject attempts to associate certain individuals with my team simply to support a false political narrative.”
According to him, the mention of one Emmanuel Bempong, aka Nautica alone, exposes the dishonesty behind the statement because “everybody in the constituency knows he does not belong to my team in any way.”
This clearly shows that the statement was not based on facts or proper investigations but on propaganda and political bias. I urge all party members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. I also call on the Ghana Police Service to conduct a fair and independent investigation into all acts of violence and misconduct that occurred during the elections, so the truth will prevail.
