Francis Owusu-Akyaw sponsors mock exam for BECE candidates in Juaben

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Francis Owusu-Akyaw, as part of his educational strategy, has sponsored a super mock examination for final-year junior high school (JHS) candidates in his constituency.

The NPP PC, who is a mining consultant, solely paid the full cost of the super mock exam for 1,533 candidates in 43 public and private JHSs in the Juaben Municipality.

The Juaben Municipal Education Director, Ms. Phyllis Boateng, on Tuesday,18th June 2024, led Mr. Owusu-Akyaw, the Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Omane Aboagye, and some entourage to monitor the ongoing mock exam.

Mr. Owusu-Akyaw advised the candidates to take their studies very seriously to enable them to pass well and enjoy the free Senior High School (SHS) programme. He cautioned them against examination malpractices.

Speaking to the media after monitoring the ongoing super mock exam, Mr Owusu-Akyaw explained the motivation behind the sponsorship of the exam.

He said he decided to sponsor the mock exam in order to improve the standard of education in the Juaben Constituency.

“I am sponsoring a mock examination for all candidates in both public and private schools, who will be taking this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE),” he indicated.

The mock BECE, which started on 18th June 2024, is going on across the 43 JHSs within the Juaben Municipality, with a population of 1,533 pupils.

The mock exam begins from 18th to 25th June 2024.

The MCE, Mr. Omane Aboagye, stressed the need for the candidates and pupils in the area to take advantage of free SHS and take their studies seriously.

The Municipal Education Director commended Mr. Owusu-Akyaw for his kind gesture.

The beneficiary candidates of the super mock exam were full of praise for the NPP PC. They promised not to disappoint him, their parents as well as the Juaben Municipality.

A number of them who spoke to the media promised to study hard and excel in the upcoming BECE.
