Francois chases Mahama over worsening Teachers’ welfare under NDC government

Dr. Francis Adomako, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sharply criticized the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for failing Ghanaian educators.

Speaking on Wednesday, Dr. Adomako noted that nearly two years into President John Dramani Mahama’s presidency, conditions for teachers across the country have drastically worsened. He highlighted key areas of government inaction:

Licensure Assessment:

Increased fees despite campaign promises to scrap the examination.

Vehicle Import Relief:

Non-existent low-interest loans and lack of tax reductions at the ports.

Career Promotions:

Stagnation in professional advancement for upgraded teachers.

Entitlement Arrears:

Widespread non-payment of legitimate allowances.

Training College Support:

Cuts reducing meal allocations from three daily meals to one.

Expressing full support for the current strike entering its second week, Dr. Adomako called the industrial action a direct result of government failure.

Negotiations between teacher unions, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and the Ministry of Education remain at a standstill as educators demand concrete payment timelines before returning to classrooms.Source:choicenewsonline.com
