Accra, Ghana — In a remarkable recognition of his dedication to education, leadership, and community development, George Akom, Senior Assistant Registrar, Public Administrator, Educationist, and Politician, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the prestigious London Bridge Business School (UK).
He was further conferred as a Distinguished Fellow of the African Institute of Public Administration (AIPA), adding to his growing reputation as a thought leader in Ghana and beyond.
Mr. Akom holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Information Systems, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Information Technology, and a 3-Year Teacher’s Certificate “A” . He also holds many Professional Diploma Certificates in Information Technology that have strengthened his expertise in ICT and education management. He is further recognized as a Certified Public Administrator (CPA) by the African Institute of Public Administration (AIPA), a credential that affirms his professional competence in governance, policy, and institutional management.

His professional career spans several years of service in academia and administration, currently as a Senior Assistant Registrar at the Ghana Communication Technology University, where he has played a significant role in institutional management, policy development, and academic support.
Beyond his academic and administrative work, Mr. Akom has distinguished himself as a passionate advocate for education and youth empowerment.
He has organized numerous career guidance and counselling programmes, mock examinations for BECE students, vacation classes, and gala sporting activities, all aimed at nurturing young talents and supporting students in rural and urban communities.

His initiatives, including the donation of solar lamps to schools, have had a lasting impact on improving education and social development in his district; Sekyere Afram Plains with the district capital at Drobonso,Ashanti region.
Mr. Akom has also made notable contributions in public advocacy on education, information technology, and good governance. Through his engagements on media platforms and public forums, he has consistently championed quality education reforms, ICT integration in learning, and the promotion of transparency and accountability in governance.

He has also served in a pioneering alumni leadership role as the First General Secretary of the Alumni Association of Akenten Appiah -Menka University of SkillS and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), where he contributed to strengthening alumni relations and institutional advancement.
