I WILL ENSURE TRANSPARENCY IN ALLOCATION OF KEJETIA PHASE II SHOPS-Sam Pyne assures

The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE),Hon.Samuel Pyne, has cautioned residents of Kumasi and its environs especially traders that, the Assembly has not authorized anyone to allocate stores or shops in the ongoing Kejetia  market Phase II.

 

According to him, the market was still under construction and KMA had not authorized anyone to pay money to own shop because they themselves don’t even know how much each shop will cost now.

The Mayor gave the warning during a special meeting by the members of KMA held at Prempeh Assembly hall on Monday, 5th December,2022.He pledged to ensure transparency in allocation of shops when the project is finally completed . He explained that data of all shops owners had been collected and verification yet to be done.”I can assure you that I will ensure transparency in allocation of shops to all rightful owners”, he added

According to him, the Assembly had earlier on issued statement cautioning residents of Kumasi and its environs especially traders to be careful of the activities of unscrupulous persons on the new Kejetia market project.

Hon.Samuel Pyne also informed the members of the Assembly that the two(2) major issues at Kejetia phase I market is been addressed .According to him, the pipes problem which was usually causing flooding  has been fixed.

That an agreement has been made with Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)to enable traders settled the outstanding debts .The mayor disclosed that plans were far advanced for the individuals meters installation at the Kejetia Phase I.He was quick to add that individual meters would be fixed in the  phase II to avoid similar challenged.

Touching on abandoned Krofrom Market,Hon.Pyne told the Assembly members that he was committed to liaise with them and the necessary stakeholders to mobilize funds to complete the market.The Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly,Hon.Patrick Kwame Frimpong among other members stressed on the need for the Assembly to do everything possible to get necessary funds to complete Krofrom market .The Krofrom market was initiated by former President John Agyekum Kufour in 2007 but successive governments have abandoned the project.Source:Tntnewspapergh.com
