IMF BAILOUT SAGA:Dr. Bawumia to tender in Resignation as Head of EMT?

Things are getting murkier for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is reportedly set to resign his position as Head of the Economic Management Team (EMT).

Deep throat sources have whispered that the Vice President who was nicknamed “Walewale Adam Smith,” and “Ghana’s Economic Wizkid” feel his ego has been bruised by the call on International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the president for help.

Dr. Bawumia, our sources say, has gone dead silent in his relationship with the president and other powerful figures among the EMT, an attitude that has been interpreted as a ‘silent protest.’

Unfortunately, he is being very careful in his protest as he also does not want to incur the wrath of the President and his Akyem circles so that his chances of being supported to be the next flag bearer of the NPP is not spoilt.

It would be recalled that Dr. Bawumia was very critical of the John Mahama administration for what he described as mismanagement of the economy.

From Press conferences to Public lectures and campaign rallies, the Walewale Adam Smith continuously ridiculed his predecessor for “taking Ghana to the IMF.”

Even during this current administration, many economic and governance experts had advised the government to seek IMF Intervention as the economy was almost grinding to a halt but they described the experts as doomsayers and railed all sorts of insults on them. source:Amaghana.com
