Juaben MP donates building materials & cash to rainstorm victims

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Francis Owusu-Akyaw, has been commended by his constituents for his timely support to the victims of a recent rainstorm that destroyed properties.

It would be recalled that on 21st January 2025, the people of Juaben, especially those living at Adumasa, were hit hard by rainstorm that led to the destruction of many houses. About 26 houses had their roofs taken off, thereby rendering over 200 residents homeless.

However, the victims have gained a sense of relief following the donation of 50 bags of cement, 20 packets of roofing sheets and GH¢10,000 by Mr. Owusu-Akyaw.

The MP, who was accompanied by NPP constituency executives, as well as community leaders, made the donation on Friday,31st January 2025.

Expressing his sympathy for the affected people, Mr. Owusu-Akyaw assured the people that, as their representative in Parliament, he would continue to do his best to support them in every circumstance.

He called on the leadership of the community to ensure a quick and transparent distribution of the donations to all the victims.

According to him, even though the support cannot restore them to their previous state, it would go a long way to relieve them of their present situation.

Besides, the MP appealed to benevolent individuals and institutions to come to the aid of the rainstorm victims to help restore them to their condition before they were struck by the disaster.

Mr. Agyapong Andrews, the Assembly member for the Adumasa Electoral Area within the Juaben municipality, who received the items on behalf of the affected persons, heaped praises on Mr. Owusu-Akyaw for his timely and kind gesture.

According to him, it has been very difficult for the victims, who are currently sleeping in various churches and mosques after the disaster. He, therefore, appealed to individuals, churches and corporate organisations to emulate the good example of the MP by coming to the aid of the victims.
