Madam Adwoa Serwah surprises Krapa JHS with donations of 20 computers & renovation of washrooms

There was a big jubilation at the Krapa community in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region when a native of the community, who doubles as an old student, Madam Adwoa Serwah, donated 20 desktop computers with their accessories to Krapa M/A Junior High School (JHS).

Besides, she singlehandedly renovated the abandoned toilet facility and an 8-unit urinal for both boys and girls, amounting to hundreds of Ghana cedis.

 

The stakeholders of the school include teachers, students, the PTA, Nananom, the assembly member and his unit community members, couldn’t hide their excitement on Friday, 20th February, 2026, during an official ceremony to present the computers and hand over the renovated washrooms to the school.

Madam Adwoa Serwah, a philanthropist and a potential queen for Krapa, said the need for ICT education can not be overemphasised, hence her decision to support her alma mater with the computers.

According to her, while she was thinking of how best to support her alma mater, her attention was drawn to the lack of toilet facilities and urinals for the students, and she decided, with the support of her siblings and a few friends, to mobilise funds for the procurement of the computers and renovation of the washrooms for the school.

The chief linguist (Okyeame) of the Krapa community, Kwaku Owusu, who received the computers on behalf of Nananom before handing them over to the headmaster of the school, commended Madam Adwoa Serwah for her unprecedented donation.

According to him, the donation was the first of its kind since the creation of the community in the late Asantehene Nana Obiri Yeboah’s era. He, therefore, threatened to invoke the 12 river deities in the area to deal with anyone and his dependents who dared to steal the computers from the school.

He also advised the school authority to make good use of the computers. He was very grateful to Madam Adwoa Serwah on behalf of Nananom.He called on the teachers to maintain the computers and teach all the students computers.

Mr Renard Quarshie, the Headmaster of Krapa MA JHS,In his welcomed address, said since assuming office about three years ago, he has tried to help lobby for support for the smooth running of the school and hence decided to create awareness about their challenges. He recounted that the school had no washrooms for the students, no urinal. He, therefore, made a documentary about the challenges to circulate to solicit support.”In no time, he had visitors in his office, who expressed willingness to support the school with the renovation of the washroom and the urinal. The delegation from Madam Adwoa Serwah also hinted later at making a donation of computers to the school.The headmaster of the school, who received the computers, expressed their profound gratitude to the donor.He, therefore, urged stakeholders to emulate the good gesture of Madam Adwoa Serwah to also support them with additional computers.The headmaster expressed concern that the majority of the students were outsiders, but the number of natives was low.He also used the occasion to appeal for support to complete the fence wall of the school. He commended the parents for their support to initiate the fence wall. He also commended Krapa Kontihene and other Nananom for the support for the project.On his behalf, the Assembly member for the Krapa electoral area, Hon. Francis Bawuah revealed that Madam Adwoa Serwah’s donation was God-sent. He praised the donor for her kind gesture and urged others to emulate the good example.The Ejisu Municipal Education Director, Mr Kwabena Owusu, was also full of praise for Madam Adwoa Serwah for the donation. He said ICT was very keen on education, and the need for such support from stakeholders cannot be overemphasised.He also extended his call to all parents and stakeholders to support.The education director challenged the headmaster to work hard and upgrade the school to a model school.Speaking to a section of the students, Judith Tsewu, the girls’ prefect, and Gadjenkpo Djodjo, the boys’ prefect of the school, commended Madam Adwoa Serwah for her kind gesture. They lamented about the difficulties they were going through without computers in learning ICT and without washrooms.
