MAJOR BOOST FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES…as MTN invites applications for AYOBA Momo accelerator challenge 2022

The leading telecommunication giant in Ghana,MTN  is inviting applications from  local  businesses and Tech Hubs across the country for pending MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator challenge.The MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator  aims to push local businesses to leverage on ayoba as a platform for growth.

 

Briefing the media in Kumasi,Digital Innovations officer,Estelle Wellington explained that the Ayoba MoMo Accelerator mainly involves the engagement and the creation of a partnership with tech hubs across Ghana to leverage on the micro-app section to grow their businesses.”We aim to help launch the top 25 micro-apps submitted in Q4 2022”.

Touching on Tech Hub engagement, launch & training, Estelle Wellington said engagement would focus on the platform strategy of MTN and building a standing relationship with the tech hub beyond the accelerator challenge. She said registration and all updates would be done via an ayoba channel to drive traffic to the app.And that start-ups would be given special QR Codes after registration to drive sign –ups for ayoba as an incentive to win an award for acquisitions.

On the Accelerator Challenge, she said start-ups are to make creative use of ayoba and where needed MoMo APIs to build services that meet the daily needs of their users.

According to her, participating start-ups would have access to the ayoba developer portal to onboard working versions on their micro-app for testing, review and vetting-successful participants would gain a milestone data reward after completing this stage.

She said candidates would then demo their apps via live video recording for judges, tech professionals and users. “Videos will be edited and posted on  the ayoba channel for winner selection.That only micro-apps available on production would qualify to win a prize.

She announced that awards categories include:Most liked micro App; prize money-Ghc 20,000,certificate,MTN & Ayoba souvenirs, Experts choice:Prize money-Ghc 20,000, certificate, MTN & Ayoba souvenirs,Best Momo solution-Prize money:Ghc 20,000, certificate, MTN & Ayoba souvenirs.The rest include;Top Ayoba influncier-prize money-Ghc 20,000,certificate,MTN &Ayoba souvenirs as well as Top Tech Hub-Prize money:Ghc 50,000,certificate,MTN &Ayoba Souvenirs.

Ms.Wellington also revealed that the accelerator Hackthan is opened from November and will close by the end of December,2022.”This time round, we are rating developers and rewarding them based on these criteria to ensure that beyond having their apps selected ,they also have the business acumen to market what they have produced to drive usage”,.

 

On Awards ceremony and networking, she said an awards ceremony would be done to showcase all micro-apps presented and various awards winners will be announced.
