The highly elated Mohammed Salifu, the leader of the Welfare Hub team, said their pitch focused on a solution to a problem that faces a very important aspect of our life.

“That is corporate work. The aspect of welfare is what we’ve actually presented a solution for. We know that in every aspect of life, welfare plays a crucial role, but we’ve identified that the system that we have currently is based on traditional methods, where welfare executives are chasing their members to collect dues, which in turn is going to benefit the overall working body. So we thought that there’s a need to get a system that would make their work seamless and then easy.

According to him, when MoMo Fintech gave them the pitch opportunity, they nurtured the idea, and “today we have the winning solution, and we are optimistic of the fact that when we go to Accra, this is actually going to win us the national project or the national prize. ” Mohammed Salifu explained that Welfare Hub is actually a payment platform, all right?
But they have Momo being the payment system, where the collection and the disbursement are done with Momo, and then their app or platform serves as the medium where the constitutional regulations of all the associations will be captured on, i.e., how they collect their dues, how much is supposed to be paid, and what is actually the joining method or the exit method in a particular union. He pointed out that all these are going to be captured in the particular application.

He admitted that the app is still at the juvenile stage. “It is still about to grow. So as we go into this competition, we are going to come up with newer things or newer features that we’ll add on that will make this app the perfect thing that will provide the solution to the problem that we mentioned,” he added.
Speaking to journalists in an interview, Papa Osei, Chief Legal, Regulatory Affairs & Reputation Management Officer, MobileMoney Fintech LTD, explained that ‘fintech’ simply means using technology to make financial services – such as payments, savings and borrowing – easier to access and use. According to him, it is about making everyday money matters work better for people and businesses. Papa Osei said at MobileMoney Fintech LTD—MMFL, they believe that talent is everywhere.
Therefore, opportunity must be, too. He explained that the MoMo Fintech Lab puts that belief into practice by connecting young innovators with mentors, industry partners, and support to turn ideas into practical businesses. He continued, “Our purpose is not simply to find the best pitch. It is to help grow fintech businesses that last, including beyond Accra, and solve problems that matter to Ghanaians. For students, the lab is a bridge between learning and solving real-world problems.

For contestants, it is a chance to test ideas, learn from users, and strengthen a business..The Chief Legal, Regulatory Affairs & Reputation Management Officer revealed that their pitch was organised by MMFL in collaboration with their regulators, the Bank of Ghana, and other partners. He revealed that they received 1,791 applications from all 16 regions of Ghana, bringing forward students, developers, entrepreneurs, and early-stage founders. According to him, that response speaks to an appetite for opportunity across the country.
He pointed out that at MMFL, they want to help turn that ambition into solutions where people can use businesses that can grow. He disclosed that last week in Tamale, twelve teams pitched at the University for Development. Studies:
Four teams, with innovations spanning security, payments, savings, and crowdfunding, qualified for the national phase. Agriculture-focused fintech also stood out in the North. But an equally important lesson came from the process: teams listened to users, refined their solutions, and learned from one another. He argued that innovation becomes stronger when it is grounded in real experience.
“Now, that journey brings us to Kumasi. 415. Applicants chose this hub, and a rigorous review produced 19 qualifying entries. Here in the Middle Zone, SME and merchant solutions have emerged as a strong focus—improving business operations, enabling digital payments and supporting growth. Adding that that focus points to an important opportunity: fintech can make everyday business simpler.
A solution should not only demonstrate what technology can do; it should show what a merchant or customer can do better because of it. Can it make payments easier? Can it reduce friction in running a business? Can people understand it and trust it?
These are the questions that turn a promising idea into practical value. Papa Osei announced that the strongest four solutions from Kumasi will join the Tamale. finalists; after the Accra event, the national cohort of twelve will be complete. But the value of this experience must extend beyond selection.Source:tntnewspaprgh.com
