The leading telecommunications network in the country, MTN Ghana, has organised its annual Media & Stakeholders forum in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, as part of activities celebrating its 30 years of impactful service to millions of Ghanaians.
The 30-year anniversary is on the theme “30 Years of Progress – Powered by You”.


As part of a renewed commitment to improving quality service delivery and capital investment, among others, the company has committed $1.1 billion for digital infrastructure development in the next three years.

Out of the amount, the company has projected to spend $380 million in 2026 alone. Madam Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Ghana, has disclosed.

According to her, the investment is part of MTN Ghana’s broader initiative to strengthen its network and prepare for widespread 5G rollout.

Stressing that The investment is about building the Ghana we all want—a digitally connected, inclusive, and resilient economy.Madam Angela Mensah-Poku, who delivered a keynote address, seized the opportunity to commend the media in the Ashanti Region for its significant role in their successes, especially helping serve as a bridge between the operator and the public throughout MTN Ghana’s 30 years in operation.
According to her, the media in Ashanti have told the story well. From our first call in 1996 to today’s 5G trials, you have been our voice in communities, holding us accountable and helping us connect with the people we serve.”
She therefore called for the media’s and other stakeholders’ collaboration as they commit themselves to continue to serve their customers well and improve services. According to her, the stakeholder feedback from regulators, customers, media partners, and local businesses remains the cornerstone of MTN’s long-term operations.
Madam Angela Mensah-Poku revealed that the company contributes approximately 6% of Ghana’s total tax revenue while supporting thousands of direct and indirect jobs through its nationwide network of vendors, MobileMoney agents, and technology partners.
Mr Dickson Amoung-Yam, the head of technical in the Northern business district, has chalked up a lot of successes in the innovation for network improvement from 2G to currently 4G with full commitment to rolling out 5G technology.
According to him, their core mandate is to keep on coming out with innovative technology to ensure quality and better service delivery. Mr Amoung-Yam revealed that they’ve decided to embark on network expansion with 800 cell sites across the country.According to him, they’re embarking on a 90-cell-site expansion in the Ashanti region alone in 2026.
