As part of empowering Ghanaian journalists and Civil Society organisations (CSOs) with practical knowledge, opportunities, security implications about the new media,the leading telecommunications giant in the country, MTN Ghana has organised day’s AI training for the media and CSOs.
The participants were equipped with AI tools and how to leverage them in their operations, consumer AI tooks,data privacy, and security implications.
The training held on Monday, 24th August, 2026,was facilated by Mr.Samuel Adranyi,Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of Afriliogic Solutions, Mr.Kwame Manu, Senior Manager, Digital Analytics and Monetization as well as Mr.Nehemia Yelu Attigah,CEO, HatuaTech respectively.

The facilitatots emphasised that AI can be a powerful assistant, but it should never be allowed to replace critical thinking, verification, and responsible professional judgment or assessment.
According to the experts, AI presents enormous opportunities for productivity, innovation, and digital transformation. Users must combine its capabilities with human judgment, fact-checking, privacy awareness, and ethical responsibility.
The beneficiaries journalists and civil society organisations were therefore taken through practical examples involving different AI tools; ChatGPT among others, with facilitators demonstrating how the tools can be used effectively for research, analysis, and other professional tasks .
Participants were also encouraged by the facilitators to explore advanced features and appropriate work modes where they were available while maintaining a strong emphasis on verification and responsible use.
The experts, however, cautioned journalists and CSOs on some shortfalls of artificial intelligence, particularly its tendency to produce convincing but inaccurate information, commonly referred to as AI hallucinations.
