The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) has officially sworn in its newly elected national and regional executives in a ceremony held on 21st November 2024 in Kumasi.
The swearing-in was conducted by Senior Lawyer, Esq. Ebenezer Adjei Bediako. It marked the beginning of a new era for the association dedicated to enhancing local governance across the nation.
The newly elected national executives of NALAG are as follows:
-President: Alfred Asiedu Adjei
– 1st Vice-President: Patrick Kwame Frimpong, who doubles as KMA Presiding member and Assembly member for the Krofrom East Electoral Area.
– 2nd Vice-President: Mr.Daniel Kwaku Mensah
– Treasurer: Philomena Opoku-Asare
– Trustees: Gertrude Adzo Borklo and Nana Samuel Essel
-Women Caucus Representative: Helena Mensah
In addition, 16 regional representatives were sworn into office, further solidifying NALAG’s commitment to grassroots development and effective representation across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President-elect, Mr. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, expressed gratitude to the delegates for the trust reposed in the newly elected executives.

He emphasised the team’s collective resolve to work diligently in addressing critical issues facing local governance.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. We are fully aware of the responsibilities ahead and are committed to delivering on the confidence you have placed in us. Together, we will strengthen NALAG at the district and regional levels, review our constitution to address its loopholes, and advocate policies that enhance the efficiency of local governance,” he stated.
He further called for unity and collaboration among all members to drive the vision of the association forward. “Our strength lies in our collective effort. Let us remain united and focused as we work towards leaving a lasting legacy for NALAG and the assemblies we represent,” he added.
The ceremony marks the beginning of a tenure poised to revitalise NALAG and advocate impactful reforms, including extending the tenure of presiding members and enhancing accountability structures within local governance.
NALAG remains dedicated to fostering development at the grassroots and creating a platform for local authorities to excel in their mandate.
The newly sworn in executives pledged to uphold these values and work tirelessly to advance the mission of the association.
