The Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency, Mr. George Akom, has led a communal labour to clean up the building and facilities of a senior high school (SHS) to prepare for its opening in the next academic year.
The school, which was established as part of community day schools at Drobonso, now has boarding facilities to address the proximity problem which could not make the school fit for a day school.
Some of the needed logistics for the school have been provided to make it admit students. Besides, other few issues are being addressed to help open the school.

Mr. Akom, who is also an educationist, has expressed interest in the opening of the school with the support of all stakeholders. Since he was elected as a PC, he has taken it upon himself to use other means of support from all stakeholders to get the school opened.
As part of his efforts, he engaged the community members to embark on a massive clean-up exercise in the school, as part of preparations to open it. He did this to support the Regional Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Sekyere Afram Plains Education Directorate road map, to open the school for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Since the successful election of Mr. Akom, he has embarked on similar community programmes which involved communal labour.
Many stakeholders are anxiously waiting for the opening of the school due to the numerous opportunities that await them. Pupils who completed junior high school but couldn’t get the opportunity to further their education due to financial constraints see the opening of the school as an opportunity for them to continue their education.
The citizens of Sekyere Afram Plains District have applauded Mr. Akom for his vision, dedication and selfless attitude towards the development of the district.
Many have described him as someone who has the interest of the people at heart regardless of his political position. He has supported many youths in the district in diverse ways.
