A Kumasi based broadcast journalist, Mr Prince Ofori Atta of the Adehye FM ,has through a successfull appeal, overturned the earlier decision by the Ashanti Regional Vetting Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to

disqualified him from contesting for Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary position of the party.

During the vetting of the Ashanti Regional aspirants vying for the various positions, Mr.Ofori Atta was one of the two persons who were disqualified. Considering no justification to disqualify him,the journalist without hesitation, filed an appeal before the party’s National Appeal Committee (NAC), and after his petition was given a hearing, it was established that the decision by the Vetting Committee was diametrically opposed to the guidelines associated with the qualification of any member who is aspiring for regional position.

The previous decision by the vetting team was therefore overturned paving the way for Mr.Ofori Atta to contest. Following the success of his appeal, he has been included in the number of candidates contesting for the same position, placing him number four (No 4) on the ballot paper.
The broadcast journalist, in a brief interaction with journalists, explained that he has pledged to deploy strategies such wisdom, administrative capability, and courage to fortify the NDC ahead of the 2028 general elections.

”We serve a living God… I have won the earlier disqualification case on appeal ,and I’m at “aseɛ hɔ” the bottom of the ballot paper” he said.Mr Ofori Atta expressed his profound gratitude to his supporters for their backing throughout the appeal process.

”When elected, I will bring on board knowledge, competence, courage, and wisdom that will help push our party forward going into the 2028 elections,” he stressed.

Speaking on the financial inducement in modern political campaigning, Mr Ofori Atta argued that while money is essential to political organisation, it should not serve as the primary pivot for electing leaders.

”I have heard a lot of people saying that the election is about money. Yes, I believe that politics can not in any way survive without money or flourish in poverty; money is part of it,” he noted.

He added: “But my message to all of them is that money should not be the basis upon which someone is going to vote for a candidate. If you don’t choose competence, knowledge, and courage over everything, after the elections, it is going to be difficult for us, and I hope that theBy:Charles Ampong, Kumasi delegates will do the needful.” He remarked.

Reaffirming his confidence in the party’s grassroots electorate, he dismissed claims that political delegates are untrustworthy.

“Others hold the view in other political parties that they are afraid of delegates. I am not afraid of the NDC delegates; rather, I trust them because at all times they choose competent leaders for this great party,” he emphasized.By:Charles Ampong, Kumasi
