RECOUNTING STRATEGIES THAT COULD HAVE TURNED FORTUNES OF THE CPP AROUND

Osei Kofi Acquah the former National Youth organizer of the CPP writes

In 2012 / 2013 as a deputy cordinator for the National Youth league working committee put up by comrade Kadri, we and James Tetteh the former Western Regional Youth Organizer who was the National Cordinator for the CPP working committee, we had a successful meeting in Temale after meeting some selected constituency Youth Organizers and all Regional Youth Organizers and we came with a plan that proposed that the CPP National Youth League should have its own National Delegates Congress where all constituency Youth Organizers, Executives of the CPP Tertiary Chapters.

Regional Youth Organizers and all members of the National Youth League will be delegates to elect a National Youth organizer, his deputies and other portfolios.

We went ahead to propose that same be done for the CPP women’s wing too.

Carefully and strategically planned and drafted and Successful done, this proposal was discouraged at Central Committee where the Samia administration felt threatened by the plan.

Later on someone in Leadership leaked the plan to the NDC, and they did not hesitate in rolling out this strategy.

With a semi autonomous leverage, the NDC Youth wing rebranded and embarked on more Youthful programs which attracted more Ghanaian Youth into their fold.

Fast forward, in the year 2023 I myself again and the former National Organizer Comrade Moses Yirimambo Ambing went on a retreat to bring out a strategy on how to raise money for a proper reorganization of the CPP whiles at the same time, making sure there is visibility and participation of party activities by senior members who were refusing to spend money and resources on the party because they were waiting to lead the party first.

We concluded that the best way to do that was to introduce the UP-BOTTOM OR UP-DOWN Approach which simply meant that we should elect our flagbearer before electing other executives such as National, To Regional, Constituency, Electoral Area and Branch executives.

We had to spend a lot of time, energy and resources convincing members of the CPP’s Central Committee and even members of NEC to understand where we were coming from.

The strategy that was going to be of benefit to my Dear CPP, will not be shared since the idea and its strategic benefit is still relevant and this is a public document.

Fast forward, myself and the National Organizer were able to push the idea to be accepted at Central Committee after a long and carefully explained presentation at Central Committee meeting.

The idea was also shared with members of the National Executive Council which is NEC in Kumasi.

However there was a sharp twist of even when one aspirant who was waffled by the idea felt threatened, hid behind the Council of Elders of the Party to intervene and terminate the plan.

We protested and pointed that the council does not have the power to do so.

We were hit with a court case! After alot of in and out court counter sues which wasted TIME which was one essential reason for the proposal, we went into “battle too late and too exhausted”

Yesterday, the biggest Opposition party, the NPP has adopted our plan of UP-BOTTOM approach as their strategy to radically reorganize their party.

I am sitting here thinking, Is excessive Tolerance in the name of Democracy good to push strategies through when it comes to Internal party Reorganizational strategy?

Well time will tell
