The former British Military Officer, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTK Ventures,Mr.Ntim Twumasi Kwaku, has described ongoing Security Services recruitment as Extortion by the State.
According to him,an opportunity to serve one’s nation in the capacity as the military, police, prisons, or even an immigration officer is one of the greatest honours that may come during one’s lifetime.

In a statement copied to “The New Trust “newspaper dated Wednesday,18th March,2026,NTK, as he is affectionately called, said. ” to volunteer to risk your life to be in the frontline, defend, and protect your nation, both territorially and internally, and as well as help cage societal miscreants for reformation is no less a herculean as well as risky task.
To be asked to pay monies to the same state that you volunteer to protect with your own life before being given the opportunity to, is nothing short of being asked to pay for your own death.
He argued that “why should patriotic youths who want to volunteer their lives for their country be asked to pay all the way through their recruitment into our various security agencies?.

These young lads go through inhumane and insane selection processes under the mercy of the scorching sun to the extent that some of them end up losing their lives along the way. For how long must we continue to capitalise on the vulnerability of our young ones and their quest for decent jobs?.
This syndicated thievery by the state must stop. Successive governments have towed this same path, and yet no one sees nothing wrong with it. We framed our constitution along the lines of the United Kingdom and the United States of America, yet we act contrary to how they recruit their patriotic and gallant young people into their security agencies.
We have overly politicised our security services to the extent that parliament, which is representatives of the people, has been conspicuously quiet on this issue over the years under successive governments. During the recent recruitment exercise, the government extorted over 10.2 million dollars (113,000,000) from our vulnerable young ones.
As if that’s not enough, the few that qualified to the next stage will have to pay between 1200gh and 1600gh cedis to undergo medical screening, after which many will again be dropped off. It’s time for someone to speak to bring an end to this . Fellow Ghanaians, I rest my case”
