SEKYERE KUMAWU-DADEASE RESIDENTS PETITION NIA OVER DELAY RELEASE OF CARDS

The Residents of Kumawu-Dadease electoral area in the Sekyere-Kumawu district of the Ashanti region ,have petitioned the National Identification Authority (NIA) over delayed release of their Cards.
According to them, they registered for their Ghana cards about three years ago, precisely 2019 but up to date they have still not received their cards ahead of the deadline.
The aggrieved residents are therefore threatening to take legal action against the NIA should they fail to release their cards within a week.
They express fear that they meant lose their SIM cards and bank accounts after the deadline for sim cards re- registration and Bank of Ghana’s directives to customers of various banks to link their Ghana card details to their bank accounts.

Below is the full petition signed by Hon Kofi Adade, the Assembly member for the Kumawu-Dadease electoral Area.

“Citizens of Kumawu Dadease led by our Assembly Member Hon Kofi Adade are petitioning the office of National Identification Authority to deliver our cards within a week or meet us in court.

We registered for our cards on 16th December 2019 and we have currently not received them whiles our banks has given us notification that, we can not make any transactions without Ghana card and our sim cards too will no longer be active if it has not been merged with Ghana card and we can not afford to lose any of our particulars due to someone’s negligence.

Information given to us from Sekyere Kumawu District of NIA office indicates that, Our cards are ready but it has been sent to Bawku which is not understandable because every individual gave his or her information to the officers who were in change so why do they have to send individuals in Ashanti region’s cards to the Northern part of the country while they have nothing in common in terms of identity and for more than a year that we have been to the office for the card, they have(NIA officials) have been tossing us to get contact them.

We are therefore urging them to deliver our cards within a week if not they should prepare to meet us in court for explanation”
