War against galamsey:KEEP AN EAGLE EYES ON YOUR APPOINTEES,SECURITY AGENCIES-Chief tells Nana Addo

The “Sodohene” of Toase in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of Ashanti, Nana Yaw Agyei has urged the President, Nana Akufo -Addo to keep an eagle eyes on his appointees than moving from regions to regions to meet traditional rulers as a means to fight illegal mining popularly known as ” galamsey “.

He said though it is not wrong for the President to meet traditional rulers on the issue of national concern but the best thing for him to do is to caution his appointees and the top security men in the “galamsey ” areas.

In an interview, Nana Yaw Agyei said the Constitution of the country has given the President Powers to sack any of his appointees if they are not performing to the standard and replace them.

He said Chief Executives are the political heads of every district and they are very much aware of where the galamsey activities are going on.

According to Nana Yaw Agyei who is also the Kyidomhene of Mpasatia, there have been serious report where people are accusing some Chief Executives and other high profile men of involving in the ” galamsey ” yet the President is seen not to have heard it.

“I personally believe that if the President has been serious in sacking his appointees allegedly involved in galamsey and prosecute them, it would serve as a deterrent to others “he added.

Nana Yaw Agyei therefore totally back the  comment made by Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Asantehene that powers have been given to the President and he should let these powers ” bite ” anyone whose actions are contrary to the Constitution of the country. Nana Yaw Agyei cautioned the youth who are deeply involving in the act to desist from it and think of the future generations.
