The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has expressed confidence that the NPP will surely break the 8 in the 2024 general election.

According to him, the challenges the party members went through in the run-up to the 2016 general election are not up to what they are currently encountering. He was confident that they would definitely overcome every challenge ahead of the 2024 elections, adding that with unity and hard work it is possible for the NPP to break the 8.

Speaking at a well-attended press conference held at Millennium Plaza at Asokwa in Kumasi on Wednesday, 4th October 2023, Chairman Wontumi urged the rank and file of the party to join hands to ensure a resounding victory in the 2024 polls.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman said, “Indeed, winning an election isn’t about noise-making and violence but your ability to ensure that your people register in their numbers. That is exactly what we did.”

“As we speak, we have over 92% of the album being NPP. Some may ask how it happened. We achieved it by assigning targets to the various constituencies and officers, and ensuring that they were indeed committed to the agenda,” he explained.

He also commended the regional and constituency officers for helping them to achieve their target.

“Let me seize this opportunity to state categorically without mincing words that the Ashanti Region NPP won’t attack any presidential aspirant, but any non-NPP member who attempts to bring the name and image of the party into disrepute will not be spared. This is a caution to all of us,” he added.
