Winning NPP flagbearer and election is not about the number of MPs or MMDCEs-Keep Faith with the Grassroots!
In the theatre of politics, many forget the most crucial players — the ordinary foot soldiers, polling station executives, and dedicated youth who rally behind our party without asking for much in return. Today, I write not as a Regional Organizer, but as a servant of the people who has walked the dusty paths, listened to the cries at the base, and witnessed what truly wins elections.
Let me make this clear: winning the flagbearer race — and more importantly, winning a national election — is not about the number of MPs or MMDCEs behind you or how early you become a flagbearer !,
Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah
It’s about the people.!
It is about the belief,! passion!, and commitment of the grassroots, who are too often taken for granted.
The Dangerous Illusion of Elite Support
Has been a pattern seen to repeat over and over the years
Aspirants surround themselves with a few loud voices in high positions, thinking this equates to national acceptance. But let me remind you: MPs have constituencies, but the party has a nation. MMDCEs have offices, but the party has communities.
An election is not won in a conference room. It is won at the community center, at the markets, at the street corner, in the mud houses of forgotten villages. The real campaign begins and ends with the people who wear our party T-shirts not because they were paid to, but because they believe in our vision.
Do Not Ignore the Base!!!!!!
I send this passionate warning to every flagbearer hopeful: disregard the grassroots at your own peril. Many have gone into primaries with arrogance and come out with nothing. Do not assume that because an MP stood behind you on a podium, the people of that constituency will follow.
No amount of slogans or billboards will save you if the base is not with you. Do not underestimate the voice of the polling station chairman who sacrifices his own money to organize meetings, or the electoral area coordinator who walks miles just to mobilize for a rally, the Constituency officers, communication and serial callers, regional Organizers.
These are the heroes of our victories and they demand your respect and attention.
Rebuild Trust and Inspire Hope.
The people want a leader who listens but not one who brags. They want someone who shows up when there are no cameras, someone who speaks their language both literally and politically. They want someone who understands that loyalty is earned, not demanded.
If you cannot connect with the base now, you will never connect with the nation later.
I conclude by urging all!!!!
Return to the Grassroots
This is not the time to rely on political arithmetic calculated by elites. It is time to go back to the basics. Let your campaign strategy be people-centered. Let your policies reflect the struggles of the ordinary Ghanaian. Let your campaign be about service, not entitlement.
The grassroots are watching. They will not be deceived by pomp and pageantry. They are ready to fight for the soul of this party but only with a leader who is ready to fight for them first.
To every aspirant,if you want to lead, then first, learn to serve.
Keep faith with the grassroots. That is where victory begins.
Signed,
Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah,
Bono Regional Organizer
