Chairman Wontumi may be in an uncomfortable position at the moment, but his political influence still echoes within and outside the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In recognition of his leadership and contribution to the party, key members of his campaign team have been appointed to positions by the flagbearer and the national leadership.
The Chairman of Wontumi’s botched bid for the National Chairmanship, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, has been named one of the party’s six National Vice Chairmen.

The party announced Hon. Ameyaw-Cheremeh’s appointment on Tuesday, a move widely seen as an acknowledgement of Chairman Wontumi’s leadership and his influence on the electoral fortunes of the country’s biggest opposition party.
Already, his Campaign Manager and close ally, Hon. George Boahen Oduro, already serves as a Co-Chairman of the newly established Food and Agriculture Policy Sub-Committee of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign.
Hon. Oduro, the former MP for New Edubiase was a leading campaign figure for Chairman Wontumi before his withdrawal from the race.
