The full statement is reproduced below: “Seems the curse that brought us to opposition is still active. One will wonder why MP’s in a party that, has suffered such a heavy defeat and is trying to restructure and organise its base will hastily take such a decision. What are you trying to prove, and who are you trying to impress?.

Did you take the opinions of your constituents, party faithfuls, and the grass roots within your constituencies?. Is it necessary at this material moment?. No wonder our numbers in parliament have dropped drastically since 2016. In as much as everyone has a choice of candidate , MP’ s , who are seen as the face of the party in their various constituencies, should consider the feelings and the opinions of the grassroots before embarking on such selfish and parochial act. This will certainly lead to the same situation where some MP’s go every length to ensure their favourites win every position at the grassroots level.
They selfishly declare their support for one candidate and then go every length to impose him or her on us at the grassroots level. Whoever opposes becomes the enemy of that MP. Some of these MP’s may be coming from constituencies that happen to be strongholds of the Npp, but they shouldn’t forget that the electorates have the ultimate choice as to who becomes an MP and the president. They should show some selflessness and respect for the grassroots .
