A/R:MTN presents gifts to Babies born on Christmas Day

The leading telecommunication network in the country,MTN Ghana,has donated Fifty (50) hampers to babies born on Christmas day at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and S.D.A hospital at Kwadaso, all in the Ashanti regional capital,Kumasi.

Thirty(30) of the hampers were given to Babies born at KATH and the remaining Twenty (20) presented to Babies born on Christmas day at S.D.A hospital respectively.

Speaking to the Media, after the presentation on Tuesday,26th December,2023, Mrs. Charity Darko,the Corporate Affairs Executive for northern Business Sector, she revealed that the donation was been done across all the 16 regions at the same time.

According to her,Five hundred (500) hampers were been distributed to babies born on Christmas day across the 16 regions.

Mrs. Darko,said each region was expected to select two(2) hospitals within the region for the distribution of the hampers.
“In the Ashanti region,we selected Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and S.D.A hospital at Kwadaso in Kumasi for the donation”,she added.

She disclosed that, each of the hampers comprising blankets, diapers, wipes, towels, shawls, bibs, softeners, toiletries, clothes and other consumables Worth Six Hundred Ghana Cedis (Ghc600).

The Northern Business Sector Corporate Affairs Executive for MTN, said the donation which started about Ten(10) years ago,forms part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility.


According to her,it’s also to share the joy and happiness of babies born on Christmas day and the joy of Mothers of such babies.
Mrs.Darko,observed that the beneficiaries were surprised about the gifts and received it with great joy.

Mrs.Gifty Aduwaa Fokuo,Midwife Specialist obstetrics & Gyinacology Directorate at KATH,who spoke on behalf of the hospital, heaped praises on MTN Ghana and their staff for the gesture.

Mrs.Fokuo,said ” we really appreciate MTN Ghana for what they have done for the babies born on Christmas and their mothers.
We pray that the Lord will make you(MTN) great to enjoy more successes in the years to come,.

She ,however,urged pregnant women to always attend antenatal care to ensure safe delivery.
She lamented that Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital(KATH) recorded eight (8 ) new born babies on 25th December and out of the number, 4 survive and other four ( 4) babies died.
A number of beneficiaries who spoke to the media, couldn’t hide their joy and praises on MTN.They prayed to Almighty God,to continue to enlarge the territories of the Company in order to be able to continue to do their kind gesture.
