A video trending on social media in which a woman is seen sternly warning members of the New Patriotic Party is fast penetrating the rank and file of the party’s hierarchy.

The woman who was speaking in Twi warned the ruling party that they risk losing the 2024 elections should they bypass Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng as flag bearer.

The woman who portrays herself as a grassroots person in the party seemed uncomfortable with rumors of some unseen hands scheming to make the current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as flag bearer of the party for the 2024 General elections.

“If you don’t bring Alan and you rather choose Bawumia we won’t vote. We’ve already made that clear to you severally.

…You can’t even dare to bring him (Dr. Bawumia). Is maize different from kenkey.” She asked angrily.

According to the woman whose name is not readily known, Dr. Bawumia has been with the president since the NPP assumed power and has been stumbling around the economy, wondering why the NPP would still present him as flag bearer.

The flag bearer race of the ruling party has been intensified with some persons showing interest. Among the leading figures showing interest are a founding member of the party, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng and current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who was brought into the party in 2008.

Just like the many grassroots members of the party, the woman in the viral video insisted that presenting the latter would be the Achilles heels of the NPP in 2024.

“Has he not been around the president, and if they didn’t perform well why should you bring him. We don’t like him but if you want NPP to fall apart, then bring him and we’ll help you to ruin the party for you. Is it not with our thumbs, we’ll see.” The passionate and angry looking woman stated.

She insisted that after eight years of being Vice President without much performance, Dr. Bawumia should give way to Alan Kyeremateng to also come and do what he can to help the country, further warning that if the party presents Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 elections, they should not even bother contesting the 2024 General elections since they would have lost even before the elections.

The woman in the viral video is not the first to draw the ruling party’s attention to what would be their weakness should they present the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia as flag bearer for the 2024 elections.

Market women in Kumasi and other places who were so pivotal in the victory of then candidate Nana Akufo Addo have also expressed faith in Alan Kyeremateng as best choice for the flag bearer position.

Series of researches conducted so far place Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen ahead of any other candidate in the upcoming flag bears hip race in the party.
