Nana Yaw Wiredu, the Assembly Member for the Ahinsan Easte electoral area, who doubles as the Presiding Member (PM) for the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, has commended the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Amohh Kamel, and his administration, as well as the Assembly members for their foresight and commitment in completing the ultra-modern conference hall.

According to him, the project was financed by the Assembly’s Internal Generated Fund (IGF).
He observed that the befitting conference hall has come at the right time to ensure a smooth and convenient environment for their meetings.

He therefore urged other district assemblies to emulate the good example of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and construct befitting conference halls for their meetings.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Mr Amoh Kamel,the MCE said the assembly hall upgrade was designed to provide a better working environment for Assembly members during official sessions.

He noted that the project fulfils a statutory directive requiring municipal assemblies to reinvest at least 20 per cent of their IGF into capital development projects.

According to him, the Assembly has rolled out a series of infrastructure projects funded through its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), targeting improvements in healthcare, education, sanitation, and local governance.

The MCE said ​”we are using our IGF in the best way to benefit the good people of Asokwa,”Mr Kamel stated, emphasising the assembly’s focus on localised development.​Beyond administrative infrastructure, IGF revenues are backing several critical community developments.
Active works, he said, include a five-seater sanitation facility at St Mary’s in Kyirapatre, a senior staff residential bungalow for administrative personnel, and various additional classroom blocks and public washrooms distributed across the district.​

Mr. Kamel highlighted that the assembly is leveraging its DACF allocation to plug long-standing gaps in public health and basic educatio.
He said healthcare capacity in the municipality is set for an immediate boost, with two new health centres nearing completion: the facility at Atonsu is 100 per cent complete and awaiting official commissioning, while the Ahinsan health centre has reached 98 per cent completion.​

In education, construction is progressing on a new kindergarten block at S Line, currently standing at 72 per cent completion, alongside work on a modern six-unit classroom block at Oti.

He said the Oti facility will be named in honour of Lady Julia, wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and is set to operate a hybrid curriculum model designed to better prepare pupils for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).​

The Asokwa MCE emphasised that this dual-funding strategy ensures the municipality continuously meets pressing infrastructural needs while strengthening core social services for residents.
