The leader and founder of the Caravan of Prayer Outreach Ministry at Gyinyase in the Asokwa Municipality of Ashanti, Apostle Johnson Ackah Braimah has cautioned the government to refrain from awarding contracts without making budgetary provision for them.

He said the various infrastructure that have stalled in the country can be traced to contracts that were awarded without a specific fiscal provision made, noting they were done out of political expediency.

Apostle Braimah, who was speaking to this reporter, noted that politicians award these contracts to their members, especially during election time, for which reason they often do not come with proper preparation and allocations.

He explained that, in election time, the ruling government is brought under intense pressure to do infrastructural projects to impress chiefs and electorate to score political points.

According to him, this makes various governments struggle to pay off contractors to continue or complete projects whenever there is a change in government.

Apostle Braimah has therefore urged the ruling government and subsequent ones to only award contracts based on the availability of funds.

” It is an eyesore to see dilapidated culverts and collapsed bridges on our roads and streets that were to be completed to pave the way for road works all because the money had been exhausted “,he added.

He said this situation is hampering the growth and development of Ghana as it is cutting off key communities, stalling economic activities, and endangering lives.

He said Ghana belongs to all, and no one is going to make it a better place for us except our own. Hence, “we must cautiously and judiciously use the available funds to benefit current and future generations.”
